Fees
Exactly how your donation is split, and the current rates. No surprises — the amounts are always shown to you before you confirm.
Where your money goes
The me-you-us platform is operated by Capital Flow For Good (Pty) Ltd — a technology provider, not a fund-holder. We do not collect, hold or pool charitable funds. Every transaction is processed by our licensed payment gateway (Paystack), which deducts its own processing fee and then splits the remainder at the point of payment:
70%
To the organisation
Routed directly to the beneficiary NPO or PBO you chose
30%
Platform fee
Our software & technology fee for running the service
These are our current rates, applied to the transaction value after the payment gateway’s own processing fee. The beneficiary share is routed straight to the organisation’s own account; we never sit in the middle holding it.
A worked example
Say you donate R100. The payment gateway first deducts its processing fee (a small percentage set by the gateway, shown at checkout). The remaining amount is then split 70/30: roughly R70 goes to the beneficiary organisation and R30 is the platform fee — before the gateway’s processing fee is taken into account. The exact figures for your donation are always itemised before you confirm.
What the platform fee covers
The 30% platform fee is our earned revenue for building and running the marketplace: hosting and security, the vetting and onboarding of organisations, payment integration, tax-certificate preparation, project updates, and day-to-day support. It is a software licensing and technology fee — not a charitable donation — so no Section 18A tax certificate is issued in respect of it.
Tax certificates
Where the beneficiary is a registered Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) with Section 18A approval, our system prepares a Section 18A tax certificate on the PBO’s behalf, reflecting the beneficiary share it actually receives. Beneficiaries without PBO status receive a standard payment receipt only, and those donations are not tax-deductible on that basis. Each project page shows which applies.
Rates may change
The percentages above are a commercial policy and may change over time as the business evolves. The rate that applies to any donation is the one disclosed to you at checkout before you confirm. Our Terms of Service explain how fees work in principle and are not affected by a change in rates.
