It's a software marketplace operated by Capital Flow For Good (Pty) Ltd — a technology provider, not a fund-holder. When you donate, our licensed payment gateway routes the money at the point of payment: 70% goes directly to the Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) behind the project, and 30% is our platform fee for building and running the service. We never collect, hold or pool charitable funds. We believe meaningful environmental impact doesn't require a large cheque: by bringing many individual donors together behind the same vetted projects, we make it possible for anyone to become a genuine stakeholder in the protection of wild places and the species that depend on them.

How does sponsorship work?

When you sponsor a project, you select a location within the project area and choose how many squares of habitat you'd like to support. Each square represents a fixed area of land. At the point of payment our licensed payment gateway splits your transaction: the 70% beneficiary share is routed directly to the Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) that governs the protected area — for example, the authority responsible for a national park — and the 30% platform fee is routed to us for running the service. me-you-us never holds or pools your money. You'll receive a confirmation, and from that point on regular updates on how the project is progressing.

Where does my money go?

When you confirm a donation, our licensed payment gateway splits it at the point of payment. After the gateway's own processing fees, 70% is routed directly to the Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) responsible for the protected area you're supporting, and 30% is our platform fee for building and running the service. me-you-us never holds or pools your money. The NPO applies its share to running the project — ranger salaries, habitat monitoring, anti-poaching patrols, ecological restoration, community engagement programmes, and day-to-day operations. Funds are undirected: you support the project as a whole, and cannot earmark your donation for a specific activity. Conservation is complex and interconnected, and the team on the ground is best placed to decide where resources are most urgently needed.

How is my donation paid, and what fee does me-you-us charge?

The me-you-us platform is operated by Capital Flow For Good (Pty) Ltd — a technology provider. We do not collect, hold or pool charitable funds. Every transaction is processed by our licensed payment gateway, which splits your payment at the network layer. After the gateway's own processing fees are deducted, the transaction is split 70/30: 70% is routed instantly to the Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) that governs the protected area for the project you're supporting, and 30% is routed to us as a software licensing and technology fee for running the platform. Some recipient NPOs are also registered as Public Benefit Organisations (PBOs) with Section 18A approval; for those, our system prepares a Section 18A tax certificate on the PBO's behalf. NPOs without that status get a standard receipt only.

Can I choose exactly what my money is spent on?

No — and intentionally so. Your donation supports the project as a whole; the conservation team at the receiving NPO allocates it based on operational need, rather than against donor-specified line items. This undirected model gives project managers the flexibility to respond to real-world conditions on the ground, which we believe leads to better conservation outcomes.

How are projects selected and verified?

We partner exclusively with vetted Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs) that govern or are affiliated with the protected area behind each project — for example, the authority responsible for a national park. Before a project is listed, the organisation goes through a vetting process covering its registration, governance, financial management, and conservation track record, and every receiving NPO is independently KYC-verified by our payment provider before it can receive funds. We do not host generic or individual fundraising campaigns — only vetted NPOs and their conservation projects can receive funds through the platform.

How do you make sure organisations are legitimate?

Every organisation is vetted before it can receive donations, and independently KYC-verified by our payment provider. We check legal registration, protected-area affiliation, governance, and conservation track record — and we never host open or individual fundraising campaigns. Question 8

What kind of updates will I receive?

Once you sponsor a project you'll receive a monthly digest email covering all the projects you support — including funding progress, notable milestones, and written updates from the team in the field. If something significant happens — a major development, an important milestone, or an urgent situation — you'll also receive an immediate notification outside of the regular monthly cycle.

Can I sponsor more than one project?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. You can sponsor as many projects as you like, and you can sponsor multiple squares within a single project. Your monthly digest email will cover all your projects in one place, so you won't be flooded with separate emails.

Is my sponsorship a once-off payment or recurring?

Accepted Answer

You can choose. A once-off sponsorship secures your selected squares for one year from the date of your donation. An annual (recurring) sponsorship renews automatically each year — giving conservation teams the sustained, predictable funding they can plan around — and you can cancel any time. If a once-off sponsorship isn't renewed, it simply expires at the end of the year and the squares become available for others to sponsor. A sponsored square is a symbolic representation of your support; it does not give you any ownership of, or legal interest in, the land itself.

What happens to my sponsorship if a project ends or is paused?

If a project is paused or reaches its end date, your sponsorship remains on record and your contribution history is preserved. Because your donation is paid directly to the Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) that governs the protected area — we never hold the funds ourselves — any decision about how contributions are applied when a project changes rests with that NPO. We will communicate any significant change to a project's status to its sponsors.

Can I get a tax certificate for my contribution?

It depends on the recipient. Every donation goes to a Non-Profit Organisation (NPO). Some NPOs are also registered as Public Benefit Organisations (PBOs) with Section 18A approval — for those, a Section 18A tax certificate can be prepared for your donation, and this is indicated on the project page. NPOs without that status cannot provide a tax-deductible certificate. Note that me-you-us only prepares these certificates where applicable; it does not issue them itself. Whether a contribution is ultimately tax-deductible also depends on your own circumstances, so we recommend consulting your tax advisor.

How do I know my money is actually making a difference?

Transparency is central to how we operate. Every project on the platform publishes regular updates, and you can track funding progress in real time. We work with our partners to ensure that reports reflect genuine on-the-ground activity — not just good intentions. Over time we aim to publish standardised impact metrics so that sponsors can compare outcomes across projects.
